President of Wine Academy of Serbia

Ljubica Radan, graduate engineer in agronomy - master, is the founder and president of the Wine Academy of Serbia and the Association of Sommeliers, Winemakers and Winegrowers of Serbia. She completed her undergraduate and master's studies at the Faculty of Agriculture in Novi Sad in the field of fruit growing and viticulture, and also holds a WSET Level 4 Diploma obtained in Austria, as well as a certificate from the Association of Sommeliers of the USA. After completing training at the most prestigious wine institution in the world, the Wine and Spirit Education Trust in London, in November 2015 she became a licensed educator for WSET training. In addition to the Wine Academy of Serbia, she is also a lecturer at the Wine Academy of Montenegro as well as a consultant and associate in several wineries in Serbia, Montenegro and Croatia. During her career, she worked as an expert associate at the Faculty of Agriculture in Novi Sad, in the field of wine production management. During 2012, she stayed in Chile for professional training, where she worked as an assistant oenologist in the wineries Viña Errazuriz Dominguez, Itata Dolina, Chile and Underwater cellar-Casanueva, Bulnes, Chile. After returning from Chile, she continues her work and training at the TRS winery in Ilok, Croatia, and then in 2013 she goes to Austria, where she continues her work as an oenologist at the Winegut Schloss Halbturn winery, Burgenland. By the way, the winery is owned by the heirs of the great empress Maria Theresa, in whose summer house the winery is located.
She gained her experience by working in different vineyards and wineries, participating in vineyard development projects as well as judging wines at foreign and domestic competitions. She is an official wine taster and evaluator, registered on the list of wine tasters of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management of the Republic of Serbia. During her work, she also collaborated with several web portals such as vino.rs, and she wrote her opinions and various texts about wine and viticulture in specialized wine magazines, as well as for the well-known newspaper 'Dnevnik'. She is currently participating in a project led by the Wine Academy of Serbia in cooperation with the Institute of Field Crops and Agriculture and the Faculty of Agriculture from Novi Sad. The project deals with the examination and comparison of the terroir in the vineyards in Sremski Karlovci and Neštin, as well as its influence on the characteristics of the wine using the example of the Graševina variety (clone SK 54). Ljubica is a lecturer of all WSET courses.
